OUT AND ABOUT
Well everyone had a bounce in their step on Sunday last when for a change the Sun shone out after all the awful weather we had recently. And doesn’t a sunny Day put everyone in good form, so hopefully there is more to come in the not too distant future.
Well as I e-mail these few lines this Monday night I’m just in from a Pastoral meeting headed by Canon Tony and of course Fr. Willie Russell. With more lay people getting involved in church activities, it’s imperative that more young people and parents get involved in the various parish church activities. Siobhán, our dedicated Sacristan, along with her many other duties recently received an e-mail from a Dublin Lady who tunes into Athea on the Webcam and complimented our parish on the Holy Thursday Mass which involved the 1st communion class, she was very impressed and isn’t that lovely to hear about our little parish, and of course our Artistic Teresa who along with Hannah-Mai Collins had the Altar decked out in Yellow for Easter, it was fab.
We must also congratulate Pat Higgins of Glasha who during Easter week, along with over 20 others, was commissioned at a special mass, having spent 3 years doing their course in conjunction with Mary I, in Limerick – their message being – Go Out And Spread The Good News. Well done to Pat on his achievement.
Sincere Sympathy is extended to Margaret Cotter of Cratloe on the passing of her mother recently, she was in her 89th year. Prayers were recited at St. Paul’s Church, Dooradoyle on Sunday evening last and burial followed Requiem Mass on Monday to Kildimo cemetery. May The light of Heaven be hers.
Well done to Paul Collins who, over the Easter weekend, took part in Ras na Mumhan and wearing the Orange Jersey on stage 2 from Killarney to Sneem was a fantastic achievement for Paul on his bike, the Top A3 rider was a real honour, well done to Paul.
You are reminded that there are still a few CDs left at Collins Shop – Autumn Melodies featuring some. Lovely singers including Fr. Tony at just 10 Euro with all proceeds going to The Friends Of St. Ita’s who do great work.
Thought For The Week:-
THE BEST WAY FOR A PERSON TO HAVE HAPPY THOUGHTS, IS TO COUNT ONE’S BLESSINGS AND NOT ONE’S CASH.
