HAPPY EASTER
It only seems like yesterday we were all wishing each other a Happy Christmas and now Lo and Behold Easter has crept on us so suddenly. It’s a nice time of the year though and after a very wet March it doesn’t seem that the weather won’t be too bad for Easter thankfully.
A few congratulations this week getting away from Doom and Gloom, happy news for a change. Congratulations are sent to Sean Mullane and Helen Cleary of Knocknagorna on the birth of their new baby boy they are naming Padraig Og, a lovely little brother for Hannah his delighted sister. Sincere congrats to the grandparents also Mary B and Conor and Pat and Patsy in Templeathea.
Good wishes and Congratulations are also extended to newly weds Patsie Cusack and Bernard Stack who were married here in Athea Church last weekend and held their reception in Killarney where a great day was enjoyed by family and friends. Wishing them every Happiness for the future.
A BIG DAY for Eileen Naughton of Templeathea who celebrated her 80th birthday on Sunday last. A great day was enjoyed by her family and relatives at her daughter Mary Anne’s Home, with family members home from America for the occasion. And Eileen is definitely a recipe for keeping fit walking and jogging daily here’s to continued good health.
Seanie Hanrahan, another Birthday Boy this past week celebrating his 86th birthday and enjoying his chocolate birthday cake to mark the occasion.
This Thursday sees our Local Postman John Kelly retire from delivering the post, a job that he did for over 20 years travelling the by-roads of Athea and beyond. He is wished all the best as he Puts up the Feet.
The death has taken place suddenly in England of Dympna Hobbs, wife of the late Cyril Hobbs and daughter of Con Desmond and the late Jane Foley of Lower Athea. Funeral arrangements at a later date. May she rest in peace.
The Big Clean Up takes place this Good Friday and you are all asked to take to the roads in and around our Parish and to clean up all your own Area and beyond. It’s great example for kids to learn that it’s not right to throw Litter About and its horrible to see. So on with the High-Vis and gloves and help to clean up our lovely little village and all approaching roads, its our duty.
On Good Friday night in the hall the annual open AA meeting takes place. All are welcome members and non members and a very special welcome to the young people who would benefit from the open talks by some great strong people, it starts at 8.30.
AN EASTER BLESSING FOR ALL:-
May God Bless you at Easter and keep you all year through,
May God give you all the faith it takes to make your Dreams come true.
May his Love and Wisdom always help to guide you on your way.
May his light come down upon you now to Bless your EASTER. DAY.
