The weather is changing again getting colder with a threat of snow but that is often the case in March. “In like a lion and out like a lamb!” So by the end of the month we might have very different weather. But no doubt the weather is doing strange things. I saw a photo on social media today posted by a man who has lived for forty years in California and it was his first time seeing snow falling there. Climate change is showing its face. We are so lucky in Ireland – so far – that we never really get extremes of weather. Yes, we get lots of rain, wind, snow at various times but nothing catastrophic like they do in other parts of the world.
I am currently enjoying the Tuesday Keep fit classes in Athea on Tuesday mornings. I find physical exercises so boring but not when its done with fun and with friendly people. I understand there are classes on Thursdays also.
Visiting Jim’s sister in Ennistymon during the week I got in a lovely walk along the promenade in Lahinch. There is a very accessible and wide footpath between the beach and the golf links. It would be lovely if the cliff walk in Ballybunion was upgraded to make it wider with tarmacadam – similar to the Limerick Greenway – so that it would be buggy and wheelchair friendly. The day may come.
Dare I mention, once again, the awful rubbish along our roads. It is particularly bad at the moment but hopefully the Team Limerick Clean Up will encourage all to get out and clean up our roadsides again. I did a portion of the local road this week and gathered two bags in a quarter of a mile. Disgraceful.
The Ballyhahill Rambling House takes place next Wednesday night March 15th . This night is going from strength to strength thanks to the enthusiasm of the Parish Hall committee members especially Mary Enright.
Congratulations to James and Louise O’Brien, The Hill, on the recent birth of their daughter Hazel.
Don’t forget that Ballyhahill NS is trying to gather funds to paint the school and install a Sensory room. Every little helps.
