OUT AND ABOUT

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Frank Sheehy, formerly of Templeathea and late of London who has passed away in the UK. On this Saturday Frank’s ashes will be taken for burial in Holy Cross, with Requiem Mass at 12 o clock before the burial ceremony. Sympathy to Jim his brother and his sisters. May the light of heaven be his.

Sympathy is also extended to Pa Kiely and Joan Brosnan of Knocknagorna on the death in England of Willie, their brother,  quite suddenly. May the light of heaven be theirs and may they both rest in eternal peace.

Happy Birthday wishes are extended to twin brothers Joe and Mick O’Connor who celebrated their joint 60th birthdays at Brown Joes’ at the weekend,  sons of Kit and Michael O’Connor of Lower Athea, they were joined in the special celebration by family members, some of whom travelled home from England for the occasion. Everyone had a very enjoyable weekend with family and friends.

GOOD TO GO continues in the Hall each Thursday from 11–12.30 all are welcome for a keep fit session with Nicole and Dylan  and a cup of tea to follow afterwards.

It was wonderful to see St. Ita’s in Newcastlewest getting their most up to date equipment lately and Fergus Scanlon who does great work with The Friends Of St. Ita’s wishes to thank all the people of Athea for their continued support in donating to the various fund raisers and church gate collections over the many years, which enables St. Ita’s to purchase some of the most Up To Date Equipment which is such a help to all the patients in REHAB etc. There are still a few CDs available at Collins’ Shop here in Athea, the proceeds of which also gives great help to buy further equipment. And who knows the day  or the hour we ourselves may need to use some of this equipment which costs thousands of Euros. The Friends have recently been named People Of The Month. We wish them continued success with their work.

Many people I’ve come in contact with and spoken to in recent times have continuing affects after Covid. From Viral infections, High Temperatures, unbelievable Tiredness, one wonders when it’s going to end. Since I got it my complaint is I just find it so hard to think of Names. Just wondering have others found any other side-effects or continuous complaints.
