Here we are in the month of November and so far a lot of rain has been falling. In fact the ground is saturated and the winter weather has not even begun. But I have to say I’ve enjoyed the unseasonal warm days up to now, rain or no rain. No doubt the earth will throw up a tantrum because of it.

November can be a dreary month especially if one has anniversaries during the month. My own mother will be dead 60 years this November 18th and for a long time I dreaded November but I look upon it differently now. It was John Joe Dillane, a cousin of my father’s, who said one time “The long evenings are great. Nothing to do but curl up your toes by the fire and enjoy the rest.” It made me think how lucky we are in this part of the world to have the luxury of a house and a warm fire and enough food to eat. So much of the world is in turmoil so we should enjoy what we have and hope we will be able to cope with what the future holds for all of us.

Meanwhile in Ballyhahill we have the upcoming drama on which to concentrate. It is fun to be part of the team where so much is going on behind the scenes, getting last minute stage props and costumes and continually going over our lines. Tickets for the shows on November 18, 19, 25 and 26 are on sale now at Paddy O’Rourkes 069 82106. Thanks to Paddy and his staff who are handling all of the bookings either by phone or in the shop.
