MANY CONGRATS
Congrats and well done to Caoimhe Ahern, daughter of Grainne and Tom of Knockfinisk, Athea, who is an up and coming Musician and was a prize winner recently at the Co Finals of Ceol An Gheimridh, a great concertina player and one to be on the look out for in the music circles.
Stephanie O’Connor celebrated her 30th birthday on Saturday night last at Brown Joe’s along with her husband Cillian, family and many friends. A great night was enjoyed by everyone.
Our Annual Vincent De Paul collection will be held here in Athea outside Collins’ Shop on this Saturday from 8am onwards and we thank Paul for allowing us to do so. We are so grateful in advance for everyone’s generosity as every little will help some family that are struggling and moreover this year with all that’s going on. If anyone in our locality needs a Helping Hand please don’t hesitate to contact any of us members in complete confidentiality and we will try to help you. You can ring our number on 087-9574608 or call to any of our members. Incidentally if anyone needs to do a clear out our Vincent De Paul shop in ABBEYFEALE would be delighted with your bits – clothes in good condition -Toys – Books – Pictures etc. as Athea conference also benefits from their sales.
Congrats to all those in the parish who received their Junior Cert results last week, a bit later than usual but however better late than never.
A reminder that the C D in aid of the Friends Of St ITA’S is for sale at Collins’ Shop entitled AUTUMN -MELODIES, a nice Christmas gift at just 10 Euro.
You are also reminded TO BUY LOCAL – BUY IRISH this year. This week I will mention a couple of other business in Athea like last week. We have lovely Christmas gifts at our CHEMIST O’RIORDAN’S and no doubt Hannah Mai Collins will have her flowers wreaths etc on display for Christmas, as will O’Halloran’s Nursery where you can also purchase vouchers which can be used anytime.
It was on the news lately that we need to be so vigilant here in Ireland with regard to Food Waste. We are one of the top wasteful countries in the world can you believe with the Dutch way down on the list for Waste, sometimes our Eyes are Bigger than they should be.
