OUT AND ABOUT
As I’m starting my few lines this Monday night, the news is all about Vicky Phelan’s passing RIP. What a wonderful woman she was to stand up for the women of Ireland despite fighting her battle with cancer. Such courage she had not only thinking of herself but for all those whom she would leave after her. She touched so many lives and no doubt will be long remembered for her wonderful work.
Sincere congrats go to Dr. Mary Anne Barry Woulfe and her husband Mossie of Rathronan, Athea ,who were blessed with their new baby girl recently, a little sister for her bigger sister Lizzie who is super excited along with grandad Teady and Mary Anne’s dad. They are naming the new arrival Penny after her late nana. Wishing them hours of baby enjoyment.
On this Friday night the annual Remembrance Mass for all those who passed away over the past 12 months will be held here at 7pm in Athea Church. This is always a very special mass where parishioners loved ones are remembered.
Lovely to see the return of new Altar servers at Sunday Morning Mass last Sunday, having been without servers during Covid and up to now.
This is a quiet time of the year in the run up to Christmas with not a whole lot going on, and families I’m sure trying to save for the arrival of Santa Claus and the Festive Season. I will just finish up with these few lines I came across
FUTURE COMFORTS.
So now the trend’s electric cars,
In times I guess we’ll get to Mars.
Computers, smart phones, this high tech..
Makes some of us a nervous wreck.
Things are too clever now by half.
Will Robots be replacing staff.
The future doesn’t seem as bright.
With Price increases overnight.
To shop online might be OK.
But Stay In on delivery day.
And while it’s tempting on the Net,
Make sure you don’t run into debt.
Why do we need such HYPER stuff,
The OLD WAYS used to be enough.
Yet some things stay the same and that,
Is Cuddles from our Little Cat.
