Can you Believe It—As I start to do my few lines for this weeks newsletter I’ve just realised that I won’t be doing them in just 10 weeks time. Why you may ask. For the simple reason that it will be St. Stephen’s Day. It only seems like a very short time ago that we were taking down the decorations and cards etc, and saying to ourselves I wonder what changes there will be in the year ahead. And I may add a lot of sad changes for some, happy changes for others, the war in Ukraine we wouldn’t have known that it would have been in existence and would have caused such awful destruction. However we must not lose heart and be looking back and thinking about the sad aspects, we have to look forward and Keep the Chins Up, always realising there are some much less fortunate than ourselves.

A very Happy Day last Friday for Shane Tierney, son of Noreen and John Chris, Templeathea, when he was married to Amy Carmody of Listowel in St. Mary’s Church. A great day was enjoyed by family, relations and many friends at the Ballygarry Hotel in Tralee. Celebrations continued on Saturday in Athea. Congrats to the newly weds and every happiness to them for the future.

A church gate collection in aid of Epilepsy will be taken up on Saturday evening, 29th October. Your support would be much appreciated.

Healthy Athea wish to invite you to join GOOD TO GO- lively sessions for both men and women over 55 every Thursday in the Hall from 11-1pm.Everyone is welcome to come along for a bit of fun exercise and of course the cuppa.

And don’t forget THE BIG PINK BREAKFAST which supports the Irish Cancer Society. It will be held in the Hall on Sunday, October30th from 10-1pm. Tickets can be booked on 087-3869803. This welcomes all families. And there will be a kids Fancy Dress Competition too. Any donation if you can’t make the breakfast will I’m sure be most welcome.

Training in CPR and the use of Defibrillators will take place in the hall on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th November from 10-3pm.Even if you don’t want to join the first responders group I think it’s so important for everyone including our young people, students etc, to know what to do in an emergency. For example if someone is choking or may be experiencing a heart attack. Even the Basics are so good to know .It could save a life as I myself know and I had just the basic knowledge many years ago.
