The death has taken place peacefully of Willie (Bobby) O’Sullivan, O’Sullivan Fencing, Gortroe, Rathkeale, on October 11. A memorial service in celebration of Willie’s life was held in the Community Centre, Coolcappa on Friday, October 14, at 1pm. This was followed by a service at Shannon Crematorium at 4pm, in the presence of his family and close friends. Sympathy to his wife Anne, daughters Sarah and Laura, son Michael, granddaughter Heather, sister Eileen, brother Paddy, son-in-law Joby, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces and many good friends and neighbours. May he rest in Peace.
The death has occurred of Mary O’Connell (née Egan), Finnoe, Ballyhahill, peacefully in the wonderful care of the Matron and staff of St. Ita’s Hospital, Newcastle West on Wednesday, October 12. Mary was predeceased by her husband Mick and sister Margaret. Reposing at the Church of the Visitation, Ballyhahill, on Thursday evening from 5pm to 8.30 p.m. Her Requiem Mass was celebrated on Friday, October 14, at 12 noon, with burial afterwards in Kilfergus Cemetery, Glin. Sympathy to her family, Mary, Nora, Joan, Tommy, Patsy, Mike, Rita and Cathy, sons in law, daughters in law, 22 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, sister Cathy and brothers, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends. May she rest in Peace.
Sympathy is extended to Pat and Daphne Casey and family Ardagh, on the death of Pat’s sister, Sheila Sheppard, formerly of Knocknasna, Abbeyfeale who recently passed away in London. May she rest in Peace.

Congratulations to Eleanor Fitzsimons St. Senan’s Community Games who received a number of presentations at the National Finals of Community Games in Navan, Co. Meath on Saturday, October 8. Eleanor has given 40 years of dedicated service to her own club and as an official in several roles.
Congratulations to Niamh Nolan, Kilcolman who appeared on ‘The Voice’ TV Show on Saturday, October 8. She sang ‘Shallow’ by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper and advanced to the next stage. She received the support of judge’s singer Tom Jones and rapper will.i.am who will be her mentor.
A CD in aid of Friends of St. Ita’s titled Autumn Melodies was launched at the Longcourt Hotel, Newcastle West, on Friday, September 23. It was compiled for people to enjoy and to support the work the Friends continue to do at Newcastle West Community Hospital. The CD is produced by local singers Theresa Doyle McMahon and Siobhán Doody. The CD €10 can be purchased at Tony Hayes Shop, Sonas Health Store, Post Office and St Ita’s Hospital Reception all in Newcastle West, Pat Costello’s Shop, Templeglantine, Collins Pharmacy, Abbeyfeale, Roche’s Shop, Shanagolden and from committee members.
Ardagh ICA Guild members wish to thank very sincerely all those who gave so generously in supporting the coffee morning held in Ardagh Hall for Milford Hospice. The amount raised was €1,175 which they have forwarded on to the Hospice.
West Limerick 102fm held their annual general meeting recently. Noreen O’Callaghan from Ardagh was one of many new members elected to the board. Retiring board members for many years, including Patsy Naughton, Reens and Tom Aherne, Glensharrold were thanked for their services. The late Sheila O’Regan was also a board member at the time of her passing. Best wishes to the new board in the future.

Congratulations to Old Mill who defeated Feohanagh/Castlemahon by 2-12 to 3-8 after extra time in the Limerick Senior B Football Championship final played under lights at Mountcollins on Friday, October 7. Old Mill lost out to Galtee Gaels by 1-14 to 3-5 in the Junior Shield final played on Saturday, October 8.
Creeves Celtic lost 3-2 at home to Ballingarry in the Desmond Premier Division League Cup Group B on Sunday, October 9. Seamus Mangan and Bryan Meade scored their goals. Carrig Celtic defeated Ballysteen 3-1 at home in Division 3 with goals from Darren Ward, Pa Sullivan and Seanie Dwyer. In Division 1 of the Ladies League Creeves Celtic defeated Breska Rovers B 1-0 away with Maureen Noonan scoring. Kilcolman Rovers defeated Dromore United 9-2 away with goals from Rebecca Horgan 3, Patrice Dillane 2, Mai Kennelly, Gillian Musgrave, Marie Balfe and Molly McGrath.

The Ardagh Development Association and Saint Kieran’s GAA joint weekly lottery draw took place on Monday, October 10. A series of free musical, dance and poetry performances will be held at the Desmond Castle in Newcastle West each Sunday evening at 6pm during the month of October. On Sunday, October 23, a Concertina Recital by Padraig Mac Aodhgáin accompanied by Conor O’Sullivan on guitar will be held. The performances will take place in the atmospheric surrounds of the fully restored medieval banqueting hall, where for centuries past performers entertained the Earls of Desmond.
