Scotland bog in Glensharrold is a treasure in our midst supporting biodiversity and growing more important as the years go by as bogs decline and climate change impacts. Access to it is by the High Road from lower Glensharrold to Carrigkerry village. It is a favourite route for walkers all year round and is especially busy during the summer with farming and turf cutters using it. Over the years the surface of the road has declined due to heavy vehicles using it and Council neglect. Despite contacting several politicians over the years, little improvements were carried out and the potholes continued to breed and prosper. Last week the Council came and filled the potholes, making it more comfortable to walk or drive on. It is also included in the future schedule for further upgrading. Our thanks to the workers who did the work, the roads engineer and most especially Councillor Jerome Scanlon for his contribution.
