September is usually a lovely mild month but it is changing its routine this year it seems. As I write these notes it is wild and wet outside and as I listen to the news and the reality of price hikes in electricity and gas the winter looks less that enticing but hopefully we will all pull together and get through it. “Present thoughts are less than horrible imaginings” is a Shakespearean quotation I remember from school, meaning that things are never as bad as we imagined they might be.

The Rambling House in Ballyhahill takes place this Wednesday night at 8 pm. This is a very enjoyable night for all – a little oasis away from all the noise of the world. All welcome.

Many people ask me when is the drama group going to stage the play “The Buds of Ballybunion”. I know the group has been rehearsing for yonks but between Covid breakouts and holidays and absenteeism we are taking it all nice and easy. After all it is for fun and not for pressure. But dates have been fixed. So reserve November 18, 19 25 and 26 for it to be staged in Ballyhahill Hall. Hopefully there will be more dates and venues in 2023. It promises to be a fun night. We, in the cast, are enjoying it all.
