The Month’s Mind Mass for the late Paddy Molyneaux, the Cross, Ardagh, will be celebrated at St Molua’s Church, Ardagh on Sunday, September 25 at 11am.
Ardagh ICA will hold a coffee morning at Ardagh Community Centre on Thursday, September 22, from 10am to 12.30 pm. It is in aid of Milford Hospice and all support will be greatly appreciated.
Mass will rotate in Coolcappa/Kilcolman parish from Saturday, October 1, for the next six months. The Saturday evening mass will end in St Colman’s Church, Kilcolman on Saturday, September 24 at 7.30pm. Mass will then be celebrated in St Kyran’s Church on Saturdays at the same time and there will be no Sunday Mass in either churches.
The latest music, song and set dancing night was held on Tuesday, September 13 at the Flag Floor, Glensharrold, Carrigkerry. A number of fresh faces were in attendance, and all enjoyed the dancing, singing, whistling, story and lovely food provided. The entertainment continues on Tuesday, September 20,from 9pm to 11.30pm. There is no Eircode, but the venue is just past V94 39N9. Teas are served, admission is €5, and all are welcome.

They led by 0-11 to 0-9 at half time and extended their lead to take the points. They trailed by 0-8 to 0-7 at half time but eased ahead in the final quarter to make it five wins from five played. They top the group and advance to the quarter finals. Creeves Celtic lost 8-1 (Seamus Mangan) at home to Rathkeale in Group B of the Desmond Premier Division League Cup on Sunday September 11. Carrig Celtic defeated Broadford United 3-2 at home in Group A of the Division 3 League Cup. Seanie King 2, and Darren Ward scored the goals.
Old Mill were defeated by Ballylanders 1-10 to 0-6 in the County Senior Ladies Football Championship quarter final at Croom on Sunday, September 11.
The Ardagh Development Association and Saint Kieran’s GAA joint weekly lottery draw took place on Monday September 12. The numbers drawn were 15, 16, 26, 30 and there was no winner of the €9,400 Jackpot. Congratulations to the five lucky dip winners who received €40 each: Meadhbh, Conor and Eoin, c/o Ailish, Billy Breen (Online), Chris Madigan (Online), Ciara Moroney, Coolcappa, Eileen Collins, Ardagh. Next Monday night’s jackpot will be €9,500. People can play online using club force on the club’s Facebook page, with 6pm on Monday evening the deadline. The tickets are also on sale at the usual outlets, and all support will be appreciated.
Congratulations to Carol O’Regan, Newcastle West, who won €360 in the West Limerick 102fm 50/50 draw, held on Friday, September 16. The tickets cost €2, or 3 for €5 and they are available from volunteers, in local shops, (including Moloneys Carrigkerry, and Denis Greaney’s Shop Ardagh) or from the radio station. A new CD in aid of Friends of St Ita’s titled Autumn Melodies will be launched on Culture Night, September 23, for people to enjoy and to support the work the Friends continue to do at Newcastle West Community Hospital. The CD is produced by locals Theresa Doyle McMahon and Siobhán Doody well known singers around the locality. The launch of the eagerly anticipated CD will take place at the Longcourt House Hotel on Friday September 23 at 8pm. Entry is free, and the CD will be for sale on the night. There are songs to suit every taste on the CD all from local artists. The artists featured include Siobhan Doody, Theresa Doyle McMahon, Michael Enright, Brian Hartnett, Emmet Scanlon, Michael Nash Fr. Tim Curtin, Canon Tony Mullins, Fr. Liam Enright. A great night of entertainment provided by the artists is promised and all support will be appreciated.
The Newcastle West Film Club returns for Season 25 on Friday, September 23 at 8pm sharp in the Desmond Complex, Newcastle West. They will show ”After Love” and refreshments will be available. They are looking forward to welcoming all their friends back again for an enjoyable night.
The next rambling house will be held at Pat’s Rambling House, Newbridge on Friday, September 23, at 8.30pm. All musicians, singers’ dancers and storytellers are most welcome to attend.
The Limerick GAA Club draw for 2022 continues with the September Draw taking place on Saturday 24. The entry fee is €10 per month or €40 for the remaining four draws and €21,000 will be given out in prize money each month. Set dancing classes have resumed in Monagea Parish Hall for the Autumn and Winter season. They take place on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 8.30pm for beginners and advanced and all are welcome. They are very enjoyable nights with lots of exercise, laughs and friendships formed in comfortable surroundings. For more information call 086-3510774. Desmond College, Newcastle West have announced details of their Adult Education night classes schedule for Autumn 22, which begin on Thursday, October 6, at 7pm sharp. All courses run for 8 weeks and they cost €90 each. Coolcappa Community Hall are holding their AGM on Wednesday, September 28 at 8pm. The hall has been upgraded in recent times and is now available for hire. Comhaltas dancing classes are held there on Saturday mornings from 9am, and Zumba classes commences on Monday, September 26 at 7.30pm.
The County Senior Scór Final will take place in Askeaton Hall on Saturday, October 1 at 7pm. The competition has seven events, Figure Dancing, Solo Singing, Recitation/Story Telling, Instrumental Music, Novelty Act, Ballad Group, Set Dancing. The senior Scór question time quiz will be held on Thursday, September 29 at 8pm in Mungret St Paul’s GAA Community Centre. People interested in participating are asked to contact their club officers.
