Well the heat was lovely while it lasted. It was really a little bit too hot but we knew it was short term so we had no complaints. The lightening display on Sunday night to put an end to the hot spell was the most powerful I’ve ever seen. It was not really threatening even though there were many flashes but the thunder only rumbled so it did not seem so bad. It was amazing to watch the sky lighting up every few minutes. However our dog was not impressed and took off with the fright. Thankfully we found her in the good care of Tony and Brid Murphy in Tenekilla. She had obviously ran through bogs and briars in her bid to get away. I am glad she is safe home again.
The Rambling House in Ballyhahill last Wednesday night was another great night of talent. We had two All Ireland Fleadh Ceoil champions in our midst. Paddy Mullane who came 3rd in the U15 category and another lovely singer, Katie O’Connor, grand-daughter of Paddy Frank O’Connor, who came 2nd in her category. There I met “JohnJoe Dances” who asked me to inform you of a night in Newmarket on Friday 2nd September in aid of Irish Community Air Ambulance. Music by Mike Condon band with special guests Sheila Fitzgerald and AnnMarie O’Riordan. Admission €10.
It is nice to see Paudie Cummane and his lovely wife Magaly and child, Isabella, home on holidays in Knockdown. They now reside in Spain.
Some of my own family paid a visit to Tayto Park Co. Meath at the weekend and were very impressed by it all. There was something there for every age I am told. Co-incidentally our first home when we got married was about five minutes away from where Tayto Park is now. It would have cost us a fortune if we had stayed as they would want to be there everyday. Haha.
