Jim and I were away at his sister’s house in Meath when I heard the awful news of Paudie Mullane’s death.  This is the news that no family wants to hear and I offer my sincere sympathies to Mary B and Conor and their sons and extended family. I don’t think Athea has ever seen such a huge crowd at a funeral and it shows how much everybody cares about the Mullane and Sullivan families. The funeral Mass was very emotional and again a huge crowd attended. I hope that the Mullanes will gain some bit of comfort from knowing how much and how many people care. May Paudie rest in peace.

In spite of the awful rain on last Saturday it seems that there was a great turnout in Loughill for the Family fun Day organised to raise funds for the Abha Bhán Parish Park. A lot of background work went into organising all the events and the committee members are to be credited.

There was a good football match last Sunday with the Kerry and Meath ladies fighting for the All Ireland title. Meath were the better team and are delighted with their back to back win.

Isn’t the year flying by and the evenings closing in a bit already. I believe we might be in for another few warm days this coming week. I hope so as this rain is depressing.
