THE HEATWAVE

As the song goes Feeling —HOT HOT HOT.

Let’s hope everyone survived the Heatwave over the past week or so. Having been well publicised we were not expecting the strength of the Heat that Hit us. Now don’t get me wrong but most agreed that it would Drain you and you weren’t able only to do the minimum, forget about the housework. We are lucky in that we live in a climate that is enjoyed by everyone, including visitors to our shores ,no extremes of Hot or Cold. In America they weren’t even able to go out at all my daughter told me with temperatures in the 40s. It was lovely for the while, but we are back to somewhat normal weather now and able to breath again.

A great crowd attended the open air graveyard mass at Templeathea Cemetery on Tuesday evening last with Canon Tony Mullins who celebrated it for all those buried there.

The altar in our church had a lovely little altar organised by Teresa O’Halloran erected  for the Holy Day mass on Monday 15th last,  The Assumption.

I don’t know if any of you have recently tried to be Vetted. This past week I had to be vetted for 3 different things-organisations etc. I just can’t understand why like some countries there can’t be a Central Portal which could be logged into by whoever was needing the vetting, to check if we hadn’t a criminal record or the like, and it takes so long to process. And if that wasn’t too bad if you were born and lived in England like I was, my vetting was put back until I found out every Post -Code of all addresses where one lived  – no post codes in those days and after finding the codes you can’t just add them into your application you have to do the whole application again. I’m just airing my aggravation.

Well done to our U-19 boys who played their Co. Final on Sunday evening in Newcastle v Kildimo Pallaskenry in very humid conditions. There was great support from Athea-Glin and Ballyhahill for the Shannon Gaels-Athea  combination. It was such hard luck to be beaten in the final minute by  just 1 point but they can hold their heads high for giving us a thrilling game. Well done to Management and all who help with these young men .

Thought for the week:-

Never think of the future it comes soon enough
