A music and set dancing night was held at the Flag Floor Rambling House, Glensharrold, Carrigkerry on Tuesday, August 9. It was the first such event held there since September 17, 2019, and a good crowd was in attendance with visitors attending from USA, Argentina, Clare, Kerry and Limerick. The night’s entertainment consisted of music, song, step and set dancing, with near full participation from attendees. The music was provided by Donie Nolan, Anita Bennis, Alex Massey, Caoimhe Ahern, songs by Eileen Massey, Caoimhe Ahern, Mary Doorety, step dance from Seamus O’Rourke, Annette O’Donnell.

During the summer of 2019 great nights were held there and then Covid struck in March 2020 and wiped out the last two summers. It  was nice to see familiar faces returning and back enjoying themselves again. A lovely tea was served, and people engaged in conversation during the break. George Daly from the Weekly Observer was on hand to take photographs of the action and people in attendance. A  night will be held on Tuesdays from 9 to 11.30pm over the coming weeks. There is no Eircode,  but the venue is just past V9439N9, and all are welcome.

Congratulations to the dancers representing  Ardagh/Carrigkerry  Comhaltas who enjoyed a very successful weekend in Mullingar bringing home several All-Ireland titles to the locality. Photographs and report are on their Facebook page.
