OSKARS: The Oskars will be taking place in the Devon Inn on Friday, October 21. This fundraiser for St. Ita’s Sheltered Housing has been rescheduled from October 2020. This will be a real Oscar moment for the people who took part in the various films with presentations to those deemed to be the best actor, best comedian etc. etc. so start thinking about making your hair and beauty appointments because this is your night to shine.

COMHALTAS MUSIC CLASSES: The Comhaltas traditional music classes will be recommencing shortly on Monday nights at Halla Inse Bán and most instruments associated with traditional music will be catered for. Enrolment for the new season of classes will take place at Halla Inse Bhán on Monday, September 5 from 7 – 8pm. It is hoped that all the pupils from last season will be back to continue their musical progress. Newcomers and beginners will also be taken on. CONGRATULATIONS AND WELL DONE: U 18 player Christian Foley has been added to the U18 Munster Rugby Team and will be competing against Ulster and Connaught in the near future. First up are the dynamic duo of Trevor Sexton and Ger O’Donnell, who make a welcome return to the Theatre on Saturday, September 3, bringing a fine repertoire of songs and skilled interweaving of guitar playing. Daoiri Farrell appeared at the venue just before the country went into lockdown in the Spring of 2020, and delivered a most memorable gig, bringing a fresh and vibrant take on many traditional songs and ballads, and we look forward to his return on Friday, September 16. FAREWELL FR. TIM: We wish a safe journey and good health until we meet again to Fr. Tim Galvin who is in transit to his mission in South Sudan as I write. Abbeyfeale for Africa has an account in the Credit Union which is open to anyone who wishes to lodge funds for Fr. Tim and he contacts us when he needs help and our joint treasurers withdraw whatever is there and forward to him. As well, we are planning to hold a Market outside the church some Sunday morning in September after 10am Mass and as soon as the details are finalised I’ll have it in the notes.
