U19 Men’s

Shannon Gaels/Athea 1-13  Adare 0-11

This was our first home game after the win away against Ballylanders in round one. This was a good game played in Athea on Tuesday evening last. The first half was very even but we pulled away in the last 10 minutes, with our defence getting on top to prevent an Adare comeback. Team Aiden Fogarty, Michael O Shea, Maurice Fitzgerald, Gearoid O Sullivan, Martin McNamara, Hugh O Donnell, James Lee, Eoin O Shea, Cormac Thompson, Michael Tierney, T.J. Hunt, Gavin Ambrose, Cillian O Connor, Evan Curry and Eoin Murphy, subs,  Gearoid Woulfe, A.J. Behan, James Broderick, Dermot Pierse, Killian McDonagh and Calum Buckley.

U19 Football Round 3

Shannon Gaels/Athea 3-16 Askeaton/Ballysteen/Kilcornan 2-12

Both teams went into this game unbeaten and they served up a fantastic contest of the highest standard before a good crowd in Ballyhahill on Thursday evening last. The final score flattered us a little bit as we were hanging on to a one point lead, late in the game when we broke from defence with lightning speed for Eoin O Shea to score a cracking goal. We followed this up with our 3rd goal from A.J. Behan straight from the kick out  to give us a 7 point win. There were excellent performances throughout the field which was a credit to the players as they were playing their second game in 3 days. We have now topped our group and we move onto the knockout stages with confidence after 3 victories.

Team: Aiden Fogarty, Michael O Shea, Gearoid Woulfe, Gearoid O Sullivan, Martin McNamara, Hugh O’Donnell(JC) Maurice Fitzgerald, Cormac Thompson, Eoin O’ Shea, Michael Tierney, T.J. Hunt(JC), Zac Behan, Evan Curry, Gavin Ambrose, Killian McDonagh, Subs Pierse O’Brien, A.J. Behan, Eoin Murphy, James Broderick, Cillian O Connor, James Lee and Billy Hogan.
