Sincere sympathy to Michael Higgins, Knockdown, on the death of his mother, Kate Higgins, this week. Kate is the 4th person in the Knockdown area to die this year. She follows her immediate neighbour Mary Reidy, and her close neighbours Seán Sheahan and Tomás Geoghegan. That’s four of our senior citizens in a very short time. May she rest in peace. Sympathies to her other sons Patrick and John and their extended families also.

Ballyhahill Rambling House for the month of July takes place this Wednesday, July 6 at 8pm. A great night in store for all who attend.

My daughter, who is home from a continental holiday,  tells me she could not get over the amount of baggage strewn everywhere in Dublin airport waiting to be delivered back to the owners.

All this travelling sounds like a lot of stress to me! It is easier stay at home, in spite of the awful weather.

Belated Happy Birthday to Maureen Long who celebrated her 80th birthday at the weekend. Thankfully both Seamus and herself are happy and healthy together but sorely miss their son Micheál R.I.P. Few people escape without having some cross to bear.

We wait in eager anticipation for this promised heatwave due to arrive this week. No sign of it in Glenbawn yet anyhow.
