U11 Football
We had 21 players available on Tuesday evening last for the 4th round of the league. We hosted Granagh/Ballingarry in Athea and were able to field two strong teams. Both Athea teams played exceptional football on the evening demonstrating all their skills, teamwork and spirit against very strong and skilful opposition. This bunch of Athea players are an absolute credit to themselves and their parents and continue to improve with every training session and match. All players were excellent with exceptional performances from John Ahern, Loren Healy, Eoin Ahern, Jontie Weiling, Anna Murphy, and Jack Leahy. Special thanks to referees Derek Byrne and James McCarthy

U13 Football League
We travelled to Foynes on Thursday last to play St. Senan’s in Round 4 of the league. We had been training very well, improving in every match and were hopeful of our first win in the competition. We played against the wind in the first half and dominated possession for the majority of the half however we also kicked 15 wides leaving the score at 2 points apiece at the break. We started the second half strongly and started converting our possession into scores with a brilliant goal from Aaron Broderick and a great point on the run from Daniel Hunt after fielding the kick-out. St Senan’s to their credit never gave up and pushed hard for scores towards the end and after a tense finish we recorded our first victory of the league on a score line of Athea 1:04 to St. Senan’s 0:03. Athea had brilliant performances from all players with our backs only conceding 3 points, our midfield running themselves into the ground and our forwards looking dangerous throughout. Our three subs also made a back contribution when introduced in the second half.
Team: Jamie Brosnan, Paddy O’Connor, Daniel Leahy, Jack Leahy, Tom Mullane, Jamie Quinn, Tony Ambrose, Daniel Hunt, Mark Collins, Arron Broderick, Conor Fennelly, Daniel Broderick, Patrick Healy, Mark Ahern, Tadhg Hunt, Conor Leach, Aaron Hunt and Cathal Fitzgerald.
