OUT AND ABOUT

As I E-Mail my few lines this Monday night, it’s nothing but LOVE on Television, it being Valentines Day. I’m sure there was plenty of cards, flowers and as I said last week meals out for many over the weekend. However on the other hand many opted to stay at home and Dine in and isn’t that lovely too, its not all about the Material side of things and since Covid many have appreciated the lesser Materialistic side of Life. The one thing I will never forget about Valentines Day is it was the day that Pa Danaher died suddenly in front of his house here in Athea. I was in first year as a boarder in Bruff  FCJ and my father came down to take home Anne who was in 5th year to tell her the awful news. God rest them both now if my memory serves me well that was 57 years ago, how time passes us by.

Great news for both our GAA and Soccer clubs this past week both receiving grants to improve their facilities at their respective pitches. I’m sure the money  will be put to extremely good use and will result in all the players, young and old,  benefitting ,from the improvements.

After doing our usual Sunday morning clean up last week around the Templeathea Ring, Patsy, my sister, and myself picked up the usual rubbish that’s thrown out an abundance of Face Masks. I may add, Marie Denihan does the village also. That was bad enough but when you come to the bin near Markievicz Park and see it full to overflowing with Dog food Cans its so annoying, especially when the Bottle Bank has Big Containers up near Holy Cross, which take cans, glass of all colours and drink cans its not that far away to go there.

Well the Play has started in the Hall and I’m sure will be playing to packed audiences for the next 2 weeks .We wish the cast and all those behind the scenes all the very best of Luck,  can’t wait to see it.

The following few lines I came across recently and with everyone rushing and under stress I thought these were applicable.

IT’S GOOD TO GET AWAY FROM NOISE,

FROM CHAOS AND FROM DIN,

TO SEEK IN SOLITUDE AND PEACE

THE BEAUTY THATS WITHIN.

TO GO INTO AQUIET WOOD

AND BREATHE ITS LOVELINESS,

TO CONTEMPLATE IN SILENCE, THOSE THINGS WHICH CALM AND BLESS.
