The classic comedy by John B Keane is based on the arrival of Moll, the Priest’s new Housekeeper and the changes she undertakes in both running of the presbytery and indeed the parish. Frances Kennedy takes the lead role as the resourceful Moll, Batt O’Keeffe is the Canon, Johnny Corkery the reluctant curate in charge of bingo and Conor Hogan the third Curate in the house. Sonny Egan plays the small farmer Ulick while Bernie Daly is his prospective wife Bridgie. Conor Foley plays the Bishop on a surprise visit and Jana Finucane, Mrs Andover who is fond of the drop and so ruled out of the job as Housekeeper. The Play is Directed by Joe Murphy.

ANTIBIOTICS: European Surveillance of Veterinary Antimicrobial Consumption reported a drop in antibiotics use by 43% between 2011 and 2020. In this country, during the same period, there was only an 8% reduction.
COST to Dairy Farmers; President of ICMSA Pat McCormack described the price surge over such a short period as “unprecedented”. His organisation has calculated that an average dairy farm would see total costs per farm go from €146,500 in 2020 to an estimated €159,000 by 2022 — an average rise of €12,500 or approximately 8.5pc.

I notice that the hole was full of water, before the operation began. FUNDRAISER: The eighth annual Radio Kerry Christmas Jumper Day fundraiser for St Vincent de Paul on Friday, December 10, 2021. Over the past seven years, has led to over €120,000 being raised.

MOYVANE DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION: wishes to acknowledge receipt of the following grant allocation from KCC: €2,500 from the Community Support Fund, which was used to part fund the upgrade of the flower beds on Church Road. Moyvane Development Association also wishes to acknowledge receipt of €1,000 under the Community Enhancement Programme from KCC & The Department of Rural and Community Development which was used to purchase a mulcher lawn mower.
NEW MOON 4th Dec. The December 19th full moon is commonly referred to as the Full Cold Moon, a fitting name for a moon occurring in a cold month. It’s also been referred to at the Long Nights Moon, equally fitting given December has the shortest day of the year.
Fr. William Moloney
Fr William Moloney lately arrived from Ireland took up a temporary position in Sierra Valley where lived about 1000 people many of them Ranchers in 1868. He is noted as being the first Missionary to visit the north of Pumas County. Visiting Johnsville on Deer Creek, Quincy, Indian Valley, Susanville and Honey Lake Valley in Lassen County. He was the first Priest in Lassen County. The records show that Fr. William Moloney was very active on the Missions in California and Nevada .He gave 40yrs service to the Church in this area. Journeys of 50 miles were common. At times he would be 100 miles from the end of the trail at Downieville where mining took place in 1880. He named his famous Horse Charley. In the mountain area of Northern California travel in winter was difficult with deep snow drifts. To travel you would need a pine board 4″ wide and 8 to 12ft long fixed to the soles of shoes a long stick was needed for balance. A priest had to be strong and fit to cope with the hardships of Missionary life. It took 6 weeks to make the circuit from Truckee to Alturas and back home again. Fr. William Moloney son of Tadhg and Kate Enright born Coilagurteen, Knockanure in 1841 Ordained 1864, died Sutter Creek 1903. He was a brother of M T Moloney Solicitor General Ottawa .Inscriptions on Family Headstone Gale Cemetery, Timothy Moloney died Nov 1st 1885 aged 93yrs. Memorial Erected by their son Maurice Moloney Ottawa Ill. USA . Also remembered son John Moloney who died Jan 19th 1904 .his wife Ellen died 13th April 1908 .son Edward Moloney died Nov 5th 1872 aged 27yrs.

“These are people who fly most, drive the biggest cars most and live in the biggest homes which they can easily afford to heat, so they tend not to worry if they’re well insulated or not.
“They’re also the sort of people who could really afford good insulation and solar panels if they wanted to.”
Prof Newell said that to tackle climate change, everyone needs to feel part of a collective effort – so that means the rich consuming less to set an example to poorer people.
He continued: “Rich people who fly a lot may think they can offset their emissions by tree-planting schemes or projects to capture carbon from the air. But these schemes are highly contentious and they’re not proven over time.
The wealthy, he said, “simply must fly less and drive less. Even if they own an electric SUV that’s still a drain on the energy system and all the emissions created making the vehicle in the first place”.

FOOD Banks; A study by Food Bank for New York City reported that nearly 75% of emergency food providers (EFPs), such as pantries and food banks, saw dramatic increases in demand for service during the early days of the pandemic. A major cause: the business lockdowns that forced widespread unemployment.
Sister Caroline describes how food is distributed from St. John’s Bread & Life to “guests” in Brooklyn and a few spots in Queens.
But according to the report, 38% of the food providers suddenly closed because of social-distancing protocols. In Brooklyn, for example, the list of EFPs in operation shrunk from 257 to 164 as protocols continued, a loss of 93. Queens had 170, but lost 65, leaving 105 with open doors.
“In almost 90% of the cases, whether it’s a parish-based one or a small organization, it was volunteers who were doing the actual work,” Sister Caroline said.

FACE MASK: this study is to determine the effects of prolonged usage of N95 respirators and surgical facemasks amid health care workers in our institution. Cross-sectional study. SRM medical college hospital, Kattankulathur. A self-constructed questionnaire containing 20 queries regarding the effects of prolonged use of face masks, after being analysed by the experts of our institution were handed over to 250 participants.. All participants wore either surgical masks or N95 respirators for a minimum of 4 h per day. People aged between 20 and 48 years were selected for this study. Study period was from 20/07/2020 to 26/07/2020. Completed questionnaires were sent for statistical analysis. A total of 250 healthcare workers participated in the study, out of which 179 were females. The acquired results were excessive sweating around the mouth accounting to 67.6%, difficulty in breathing on exertion 58.2%, acne 56.0% and itchy nose 52.0%. This study suggests that prolonged use of facemasks induces difficulty in breathing on exertion and excessive sweating around the mouth to the healthcare workers which results in poorer adherence and increased risk of susceptibility to infection.
