The death has taken place of Kathleen Ryan, nee Stack, Coolacokera, Ardagh and late of Ballinlonig, Dromcollogher on Thursday, November 25, peacefully at UHL. Wife of the late Shaun. Reposing took place at Riedy’s Funeral Home, Newcastle West on Saturday, November 27, from 6pm with removal at 7.30pm to St Molua’s Church, Ardagh. Following the Funeral Mass on Sunday at 2.30pm, Kathleen was laid to rest afterwards in Grange cemetery. Sympathy to her family Dan, Kay, and John, daughter-in-law Therese, sister-in-law Mary, grandchildren Séan and Oisin, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May she rest in Peace.

The death has occurred of Phyllis Murphy (née Daly) Knockfinisk, Carrigkerry, Athea, Limerick / Lixnaw, Kerry unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 23, at her residence in the loving care of her husband Timmy. A private family Funeral and burial took place, for immediate family, neighbours and close friends only, in accordance with the HSE guidelines and in the interest of public health. The Requiem Mass took place in St Bartholomew’s Church, Athea, on Sunday, November 28, at 12 noon, with burial following immediately after in Calvary Cemetery, Newcastle West. Sympathy to husband  Timmy, brother Dr Aidan Daly (Tralee), sister Mary Kirby (Ardfert), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, kind neighbours and a large circle of friends. May she rest in Peace.

The death has taken place of Pat Reidy, Ardvone, Ardagh, suddenly at his residence on Sunday, November 28. He lay in repose at Riedy’s Funeral Home, Newcastle West on Wednesday, December 1, from 6pm with removal at 7.30pm to St Molua’s Church Ardagh. His Requiem Mass was Concelebrated by Fr Michael Noonan and Fr Joe Cussen on Thursday at 11.30am. Pat was laid to rest afterwards in Calvary Cemetery, Newcastle West. Our sympathy to his wife Margaret, son Paul, daughters Jackie and Sarah, brother Johnny, sister Mary, sons-in law Rory and Brian, daughter -in-law Lorraine, grandchildren Kayla, Sadie, Cian, Gerri-Mae, Leah, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May he rest in Peace.

Marietta Sheehan Granagh walked 100 miles from October 17 to November 16 and raised €2,400 for St Joseph’s  Foundation in Charleville. She is the former Marietta Smith from Glensharrold happily domiciled in her adopted parish for many years with John and family.

Old Mill ladies football club held their annual general meeting on Thursday, November 25. The following officers were elected to serve in 2022. St Kieran’s GAA Club are holding the annual general meeting on Friday, December 10 at 9pm. It will be held online through Microsoft teams and those wishing to attend are asked to forward their email address to club secretary Ivan in advance of the meeting.

St Kieran’s were defeated by Galbally 0-15 to 1-10 in the County Premier Under 21 Football Championship semi final at UL Limerick on Friday, December 3. They led by 0-8 to 0-5 at half time but Galbally were in control in the second half to book their final place. St Kieran’s lost to Templeglantine 3-9 to 1-13, in the County Under 21 B Hurling Championship quarter final at Ballingarry on Sunday November 28. St Kieran’s led by 0-12 to 1-4 at half time, but Templeglantine bossed the second half to advance. Creeves Celtic defeated Knockaderry 1-0 away in Division 1 of the Desmond League on Sunday November 28, with Richie Hayes scoring the all important goal that saw them joint top of the division. In Division 1 of the Ladies league Kilcolman Rovers lost 6-4 at home. Charlotte Lynch 2, Sophie Hennessy and Gillian Musgrave got their goals. Creeves Celtic had no fixture.

The Ardagh Development Association and Saint Kieran’s GAA joint weekly lottery  draw took place on Monday, November 29. The numbers drawn were 1, 13, 19 and 26 , and there was  no  winner of the €5,500 Jackpot.  Congratulations  to the five lucky dip winners who received  €40 each:  Anne Holyhead
