Nationwide on Monday night gave a full programme to the Limerick Greenway from Rathkeale to Abbeyfeale. It was a great ad for this trail which so many people enjoy walking and cycling. Hopefully it will continue on the Kerry side as far as Tralee. I can’t help but think of Liam O’Mahony and his friends in Newcastlewest who, to my mind anyway, were the instigators of this plan and who did voluntary, trojan and physical work on this route and kept at the powers that be until it got the attention it deserves. It is now run by Limerick City and County Council. It was great to see many local faces on the programme.

Imagine that this time last year we had hoped to be rid of Covid by Christmas 2020 and here we are twelve months later and in as bad a state as ever. We really have to be more careful and ensure that we all do our bit to keep distance and wear our masks and, of course, wash or sanitise our hands. Otherwise we could be still battling it for another year. We are all truly sick of it. And, more seriously, many are sick from it.

Ballyhahill Parents Association informs me that the school is collecting bags of used clothing. Drop them off to the school at any time, during opening hours, and they will gladly accept them
