U17 Boys

Dromin Athlacca Banogue 1-12 Athea 2-6

Our under 17 footballers were beaten in the county final last Saturday morning in Mick Neville park before a large crowd of supporters. They put in a massive effort in the game, which was a real championship game with no quarter asked or given. We had a lot of defending to do but in the first half our forwards were on fire  scoring 2 excellent goals,  to lead at half time 2-3  to  0-5. The opposition got on top at the start of the second half and gradually whittled away at our lead. They went ahead with 10 remaining but we attacked again and we were very unlucky to have what looked like a good goal disallowed. We continued to attack right to the end but could not penetrate the opposition defence. The whole team played some of their best football of the year but  it just wasn’t enough on the day. They trained very hard all year since they started back in March and are an excellent panel of players who are a credit to themselves and their parents.

Team: Tomás Ahern, Rory O’Mahony, Calum Buckley, James Lee, Darragh Reidy, Fergal Pierse, Conor Mullane, Evan Curry, James Broderick, Gearoid O’Sullivan, Daire O’Shea, Michael Walsh, Cillian O’Connor, subs, James Hunt, Rory Cleary, Donnacha Barrett, Tadhg Ahern and Ciarán Hunt.

The team were treated to soup, sandwiches, chicken and chips in Brown Joe’s after the game.
