Ballyhahill School Parents Association wishes to thank everyone who gave so generously to the school last term. They were, in the end, able to afford to get six new tables and benches for the kids who are delighted to be able to have somewhere to eat their lunch properly from now on. The association wishes to give a very warm welcome to the new Principal Mrs. Breda Horgan and wish her all the best in her years ahead. A huge happy retirement to Mrs. Mary Moore whom they will all miss but may she have many, many happy years in her retirement. It is very well deserved!
Last week I mentioned Enzo Rocca who started school and I wish to apologise for getting his surname wrong. He is Enzo Houlihan.
Belated Happy Birthday to Liam Enright, Clounleharde, who was 96 years old last week. He must be one of the oldest in the parish. He still looks like a young fellow!

Liam Enright celebrates his 96th birthday with family
At this time I am mindful of my former neighbour Patrick Shanahan who should be celebrating his wife’s 50th birthday this weekend but, sadly, will be mourning her loss. We were all in shock when Siobhán Shanahan died in a car accident last April. I have written a tribute to her to be included in local papers this weekend. Her birthday would have been on September 18th. May she rest in peace and may Patrick and all who loved her find comfort.
Congratulations to Marian and Mike Cummane on the birth of their first grandchild Isabella. Parents Paudie and Magaly are delighted with their little girl.
