BITS  AND PIECES

Congratulations to Nance & Timmy Hanrahan, Clash, Athea, who celebrated their Golden Jubilee recently
at the Killarney Oaks Hotel

Well this past week again has been just beautiful and we are all in good form when the sunshine is with us, unfortunately we are due to get rain this week  but it may not stay long with us hopefully. We went for a walk in Beale over the weekend and my God what a fabulous stretch of a sandy beach that seems to go on forever, you wouldn’t see the like of it in any foreign country. And another bonus is that you can drive your car straight onto the beach and have a picnic or whatever. As I’ve said before there’s no place like IRELAND if you get the good weather.

And wasn’t it a lovely day also last Saturday for the 1st Communion her in Athea. I must say the flowers and the Altar were really beautiful. Well done to all who prepared the church for this special day for the young girls and boys.

Sincere congrats go to Shane Mulvihill and his partner Ashley on the birth of their 2nd baby boy they are calling Louis Denis, a little brother for Aidan. Congrats are also sent to Mary and Denny Mulvihill the proud grandparents.

Best wishes are also sent to Sarah Flavin, daughter of Mike and Teresa, who was married last week in Kinsale to Keith O Reilly. Wishing them every happiness for the future and a safe trip back to the USA.

I’m sure all the MAYO fans will be glued to their TVs on Saturday next when they take on Tyrone in the All Ireland Final. With many changes in winning teams this year the latest being the Meath ladies who beat Dublin in a very exciting game on Saturday  WHO KNOWS —we live in hope that this time around they will do it.

Sincere sympathy to Mary and Mike Sheahan and their extended family on the passing of their mother Kathleen this week. A lovely quiet humble woman who died in the care of St Ita’s Hospital, Newcastlewest. Her funeral mass will be this Wednesday here in Athea with burial after to Holy Cross . May she rest in peace.

Well done to all the Leaving Certs who did so very well in their exams, hopefully they all get their courses this week in their chosen colleges.

Thought for the week:-

THE GLOW OF ONE WARM THOUGHT IS WORTH MORE THAN MONEY.
