OUT AND ABOUT

Well they used to say in years gone by that once you reached the 15th of August things were on the down -trend as regards the weather, the nights getting darker that bit earlier, the schools returning, the fires being re-lit after the summer months and many other things. We have now reached that date today as I do my few lines. However we must not dwell on the negative side of things, just get on with everything and be glad to have so much POSITIVITY in our lives.

When we see what’s happening in Haiti with tremors bringing homes to rubble, in Spain, Portugal, Greece and Turkey temperatures are unbearable. The Taliban are coming into Afghanistan whatever is going to happen there and nearer home in Plymouth last week 6 shot dead including a child by a crazed gunman, we haven’t much to moan about.

Best wishes are extended to Sue Kelly of Templeathea up the road from me who on Saturday night last celebrated her 60th birthday at Brown Joe’s pub, her family and friends had an enjoyable night along with Sue.

Well off I headed to mass as usual on Saturday night as no doubt many others thinking all was lost for MAYO. I got home heard the TV and thought Highlights of the game were being shown, to find out extra time was being played and that MAYO had redeemed themselves in the 2nd half. Maybe the prayers at mass helped, I don’t know but whatever it was the excitement FAR and WIDE I’m told was unreal .

The EMOTION shown by the players and management and spectators and loyal fans at the end was something to behold and relish. Hector O’Heoghain who was in TIBET  recently and met a  GURU there put 1 question to this man, who incidentally hadn’t an idea who MAYO were. He asked him the question—DO YOU THINK MAYO WILL EVER WIN AN ALL IRELAND — THE GURU ANSWERED AFTER A MOMENTS THOUGHT—-MAYBE THIS YEAR.

And wouldn’t it be wonderful having waited so long. I’m sure the few MAYO people in our parish are more than over the MOON mentioning no names.

Thought for the week:-

If you want to lift yourself up-lift up someone else.
