DON’T LOSE HEART

Well for all you OLYMPIC enthusiasts out there, some of you who have been up until the wee hours and others who have been rising at all hours, all is not yet lost, so don’t lose heart.

We as a small island aren’t doing too bad at all, in all we have 3 medals won up to this Sunday evening. I know the boxing was disappointing in the end as was the golf where Rory McElroy hoped to win a bronze, and the gymnastics and tae-kwando where the competitors just through slight errors were beaten for medals in the end. It’s a hard slog for any competitor who spends day after day training for the biggest competition of their life, to get beaten by the narrowest of margins. But it’s the Participation that counts in Any Sport -HERE’S TO PARIS and the next Olympics in just 3 years time which will fly.

Another bit of praise for our country –  IRELAND has officially passed England in our Jab roll out programme with 72.4 of adults now having been vaccinated fully. And isn’t it great to see our young people queuing to get their vaccines at the different centres throughout the country this past week.

I still have a couple of tickets left for the forthcoming GAA draw, the first of which takes place in a few weeks time. At just 50 EURO YOU COULD BE THE LUCKY WINNER. The quicker tickets are sold the sooner we will have the lovely tarmac /walking /running track before the winter.

Can you believe it we are in to August, it will be back to school in a few weeks. Thankfully we have had some good weather and families were able to get away to visit parts of our country they had never visited before. And considering they are having 45 degrees and hotter in Turkey, Athens and other countries and wildfires raging  we are thoroughly blessed with our temperatures.

Thoughts for the week:-

LOVE IS RARE-GRAB IT

ANGER IS BAD -DUMP IT

FEAR IS AWFUL-FACE IT

MEMORIES ARE SWEET – CHERISH THEM

LIFE IS SHORT-LIVE IT.
