BACK TO ROME

I’m sure everyone was glued to their TV on Sunday last for the Euro Final  between England and Italy, and what an exciting game it turned out to be. Sad for the England fans but delight for the Italians and their fans. I have to send congrats to my Italian neighbour Vito Missorici and his family, who were beyond ecstatic I’m sure. The Flag will be flying no doubt for a good while yet. Incidentally on Sunday night horns could be heard Beeping when passing Vito’s house—nice, considering he is the only ITALIAN in our parish.

A few more congrats this week of another sort —ENGAGEMENTS  how lovely. Firstly we have Nicole O’Sullivan of Hillside Drive, daughter of Sandra and Noel, who has become engaged to Kieran Daly of Cahir, Abbeyfeale whose mother incidentally hails from Clash Athea.

Then we have Jamie Kelly, son of Betty and Tim, who has become engaged to Karen Matthews of Killorglin. Jamie hails from Coole East, Athea and is a great asset to our community as a Historian.

Nicole on the other hand keeps the community FIT. We send Congrats to the two newly engaged couples and wish them all the best for their future happiness.

Congrats to the lucky winner of €10,000 in the Telly Bingo, who bought the ticket here in Collin’s Shop Athea last week. Hopefully the WINNING STREAK stays and that there will be a Lotto Winner too in the near future.

Only a couple of weeks left to buy your tickets for the Athea GAA Club Development Draw. They are just €50 for the 5 draws. In the very near future the tarmac will be laid on the walking/running track which will be a huge boost to young and old.

We are asked to use our Post Offices as much as we can for purchasing things etc, as if we don’t its going to see the closure of many post-offices and this would be very sad to see. Last weeks OBSERVER urged everyone to do so.

Hopefully in the next few days we will get THE HEATWAVE that we have been told about as the weather these past few weeks has been so changeable. But   The best thing to do, as Catherine Thomas says, is stick on your rain jacket and OUT WITH YOU- hail or rain.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK—-

USE WHAT TALENT YOU POSESS – the WOODS would be very SILENT if no birds sang except those that SANG BEST.
