Today Is A Good Day
As many will agree I’m sure with the above words. TODAY IS A GOOD DAY. It’s the day that Outdoor dining reopened, as did Gyms, Cinemas, Theatres, Fun-Fairs, in all a day that saw many back to work after a long spell, kids out with their parents enjoying the bank holiday weekend which thankfully was nice and dry. Of course all beaches were packed throughout the country with nearby Beale and Ballybunion no exception. I went with my two youngest grandkids to the quieter beach nearer the Cashen in Ballybunion and escaped the crowds they thoroughly enjoyed climbing rocks, splashing in the water and of course the picnic. We are so blessed to be living so near one of the finest beaches in the country, so avail of it – all we need is more good weather.
Sincere sympathy is extended to Hannah Scanlon of Dirreen, Athea on the passing of her sister Eileen McCarthy, nee Nelligan, of Killeedy at the wonderful age of 101 years old. Sympathy to all her family also. May she rest in peace.
Incidentally I’m told Hannah herself is in the not too distant future about to celebrate being 99 years old.
This week is an all important week for all those doing their Leaving Cert which starts on Wednesday. So whether they opt for written or predictive grades or a combination of both we wish them all the very best. And remember there is always something out there for everyone once you are prepared to work.
Tickets are now on sale for the annual Athea GAA Club Development Draw which is due to take place on the August Bank Holiday Weekend with 5 draws over the 5 months. Tickets are 50 Euro and can be purchased on line through club force or from GAA members or from myself. The club are beyond being delighted with the recent contributions to the Go Fund Me Page which has now reached over 10,000 Euro which will enable the club to pay for tarmac to be laid on the walking track which will be so beneficial to every Man, Woman, and Child and our Youth in the parish and beyond. You who have donated can be SO PROUD of yourselves —WELL DONE.
Thought for the week:-
Fear not for THE FUTURE – Weep Not for the PAST.
