We extend sympathy to Geraldine, Billy and the  Liston family, Glenastar, Ardagh on the death of Geraldine’s brother Thomas Nolan, Waterpark, Shanid, Shanagolden, on Sunday, May 23. He was predeceased by his father William, mother Moira, brothers Noel and  Liam. Thomas’s Funeral Mass took  place in Saint Senan’s Church, Shanagolden on Thursday May 27, at 12 noon.  Burial  took place afterwards in Knockpatrick Cemetery. Sympathy also to his sisters Marina (Moyvane), Irene (Roscommon), Ann (Ballinasloe) and Laura (Shanagolden), sister-in-law Rose (Shanagolden), brothers in law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and his good friends. May his gentle soul rest In Peace.

The Exchange programme on Monday, May 24, on West Limerick 102 fm featured Patricia Ahern from Knockfinisk, and London.  She has been living in London for the past 25 years, with regular visits home to her family until the arrival of Covid-19. Eventually she got home last Christmas  for a quick visit which lasted in total for four months. Patricia  spoke about her four month lockdown memories with her mother and sister in Knockfinisk. She also composed a  lovely poem which she recited on air. It was a lovely recall  as the three of them had a wonderful  time and created memories that will be cherished forever.

Darragh Treacy from the Saint Kieran’s club was a member of the Limerick team that defeated Wicklow by 2-19 to 1-12 in Division 3 South of the National Football League played in Aughrim  on Saturday, May 29. They progress to meet Derry in the promotion semi final.

Róisín Ambrose, Ardagh and the Newcastle West camogie club was a member of the Limerick senior  team  that lost to  Galway  by 3-13 to 0-7 in Division 1 Group 2, at Kilmallock on Saturday last. Limerick will meet Dublin in the quarter final.

Munster Wheelchair hurling camogie club, making miles matter fundraiser have a Go Fund Me page for people to subscribe to. Darren Dineen from Ardagh has been participating during the month of May. All donations will go towards the purchase of extra training equipment for the players to train and keep active, in preparation for the coming season.

Congratulations to Bridie Noonan (Glensharrold native) winner of €365, in a recent Broadford Utd  Split the Bucket draw.

Congratulations to Ciara Brouder, Ardagh on achieving Student of the Year at Desmond College Newcastle West. Congratulations to all the other award winners in the local schools.

 

The May Limerick GAA Club draw was held on Saturday, May 29, during the Limerick Live Sports Show from 10-11am. Congratulations to Conor Woulfe from the Saint Kieran’s GAA club who won €100. The top prizes each month are €10,000, 2nd prize €3,000, 3rd prize €2,000, 4th prize €1,000. The 5th star prize is different each week.  There are  four prizes of €500, four prizes of €250, and 17 prizes of €100. Total prize money each month is €21,000. The Saint Kieran’s GAA Club would welcome new members, and subscription can be paid through the Club force App.

The Foynes Flying Boat and Maritime Museum will reopen on Saturday, June 5. The admission rates are adults €8, senior citizens €7, children €4, family €20. A great tour of the premises is provided with lots to see, including  a film history from the early days. The Maureen O’Hara collection will be of great interest as well. From Tuesday, June 8, outside dining is available.

The Ardagh Development Association and Saint Kieran’s GAA joint weekly lottery draw took place on Monday, May 24. The numbers drawn were 16, 19, 21, and 25, and there was no winner of the €5,800 Jackpot.  Congratulations  to the five lucky dip winners who received €40 each: Amanda and Jack Dalton c/o Moira, Pa and Den c/o Greaney’s, Maura Crowley c/o online, Ann Madden c/o Tom, and Rosemary Enright Hodgson c/o online. Next Monday night’s jackpot will  be €5,900. People can play online using club force on the club’s Facebook page, with 6pm on Monday evening the deadline. The tickets are also on sale at the usual outlets, and all support will be appreciated. 

Creeves Celtic  held their split the pot draw on Monday, May 24. Congratulations to Donie O’Gorman, who won €119. The weekly   entry fee is €2, with €1 going to the club and the other €1 to be paid out in prize money each week. The envelopes to place your two euro in plus details, are available at  Hanley’s Food Store Creeves,  and from committee members.  People can also sign up by standing order for €9 per month. The  draws will be held on Monday nights, and all support will be appreciated.

Congratulations to Danny Harrold, Bruree who won €350 in the West Limerick 102fm 50/50 draw, held on Friday May 28. The tickets cost €2, and they are available from volunteers, in local shops, (including Moloney’s Carrigkerry, and Denis Greaney’s Shop Ardagh) or from the radio station. All support will be appreciated as finances are tight due to lack of fundraising. The radio station is off limits to members of the public at present, with only volunteers allowed access. When restrictions are lifted all will be very welcome to visit and get involved in programming. A number of exciting new programmes are in the pipeline for later in the year.
