WOMEN’S  DAY

Well today Monday March 8th is INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY and women all over the world have been celebrating the great occasion, and rightly so.

Women are FIGHTERS

WOMEN are TOUGH.

Women are MOTHERS

Women can do many things at the one time.

Women are Compassionate.

Women are Kind.

I better not go through many more adjectives describing us women or I will have our Male Counterparts up in arms.

Anyway hope all you women out there had a HAPPYINTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Vito Missorici of Templeathea on the death in Italy of his brother Gaetano. Unfortunately due to Covid the family are unable to travel to Sorrento for the funeral which is so difficult. We offer our sympathy to Vito and all his family in Italy and here in Athea. May he rest in peace.

Sympathy also goes to Breda Sullivan and her husband Sean and family on the death of Breda’s mother Eileen Houlihan in Ballingarry last week. May the light of heaven be hers.

Well hasn’t it been a beautiful few days, Spring  has definitely arrived, lawns have been cut, many are out in their gardens weeding, doing raised beds ready for planting. Tunnels are being set up to grow vegetables and a lot more. Isn’t it wonderful that things are going back to the basics like long ago. I remember last year I stuck a few spuds  that were sprouting in an old wheelbarrow, and after a few months my 2 youngest grandkids came over. Thinking there would be nothing worth  taking out they were so excited when with bare hands  they dug out a load of huge potatoes, its great for kids to see things growing and to know where they come from.

Listening to Kerry Radio the other day, Padraig Howley,  who I had never heard of incidentally, stated that NATURE WAS WONDERFUL .He said you would nearly use a Sat Nav now to go to Killarney and yet the swallows know their way from AFRICA.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL MOTHER’S

THIS SUNDAY.

Fr Duggan will include all mothers and families at the Saturday evening and Sunday morning Masses. Anyone overseas who watches on the webcam can put in their names for inclusion and can contact me. Also a special mass will be said on St Patrick’s Day for all names of emigrants who would like to be included in the special masses some of which will be said in Irish. We look forward in anticipation and thank Fr Duggan and all his helpers for making this possible

Thought for the week-

THE BEST THING ABOUT THE FUTURE IS THAT IT ONLY COMES ONE DAY AT A TIME.
