First of all can I take this opportunity to thank all those very kind people who sent myself and Paddy text messages, cards and so many kind words on the occasion of our 50th wedding anniversary last weekend. We were indeed humbled to say the least. Unfortunately we were unable to celebrate the happy occasion due to Covid, but hopefully when restrictions are lifted and when all the family can be with us we will do so.
Wasn’t the Late Late Toy Show on Friday night last a real tonic to say the least, not only for the many kids that tuned in, but for parents and grandparents alike, and indeed the many families all over the world who had Irish connections. It gave everyone a great boost, a laugh and on so many occasions a cause to smile and forget about the Covid pandemic. And the generosity of the IRISH once again came through with to date over 6 Million collected through donations for children’s hospitals and toys for those kids and families who need a bit of help. Well done to The IRISH.
On this Saturday 5th December Athea Vincent De Paul will hold their annual Christmas collection. Due to Covid it cannot be held at the church door, instead it will take place near Collins’ Shop from 9am to 6pm.Your generosity as always would be greatly appreciated during these difficult times. All the money collected will go towards helping needy families in the parish and beyond. Anybody needing help can contact a member in complete confidence and we will try to help. There will also be carol singing from 5 until 6 with the Athea choir so come along and enjoy and bring along the kids and get into the Christmas spirit.
We welcome back Fr Duggan this week and masses will commence at the weekend. We are now into December and a new year on the horizon and hopefully 2021 will bring many good things. We live in HOPE.
And didn’t Limerick do well on Sunday and the All Ireland beckons, and you know many agree that all the late games these dark winter days has given everyone a bit of a lift TG. Here’s to their success and to Mayo on Sunday next.
