Walk & Talk Track – Get Happy, Get Healthy!
We were delighted to be selected by Healthy Limerick to receive funding to introduce some positive mental health messages around our track by promoting positive mental health within the community. With the funding secured, we hope to erect positive mental health messages at various intervals around the track and also to erect a ‘Happy to Chat Bench’ – encouraging people to sit and chat and make new friends in the community. More details to follow. Another exciting development at Athea GAA Facilities.

Venue TBC. Time to root out the maroon and white flags and have them ready to fly high on October 10th.
U8s U10s Girls
Well done to our U8’s and U10’s who played so well against Fr. Casey’s on Sunday morning last. This is their fifth game in as many weeks, and they have all improved so much in such a short period of time. Thanks to Fr. Casey’s for their hospitality. Training continues this Friday night for U6s, U8s and U10s from 6.30pm – 7.30pm.
U16 Boys
Athea 4-11 Ballylanders 1-7
We made the long journey to the foot of the Galtee Mountains in South Limerick last Saturday morning, and were delighted to come away with a big win after a physical encounter. We were on top early on but some missed scores kept the opposition in the game, but goals from Daire O Shea, Evan Curry and 2 from Cillian O Connor before half time gave us a big cushion for the second half. There were super displays from our defence, especially, Conor Mullane, Maurice Fitzgerald, Gearoid O Sullivan and James Lee.
Team: Tomás Ahern, Conor Mullane, Maurice Fitzgerald, James Lee, Gearoid O’Sullivan, James Hunt, Darragh Reidy, Calum Buckley, Evan Curry, Daire O’Shea, James Broderick, Cillian O’Connor, Rory Mahony, Michael Walsh, Fergal Pierse and Tadhg Ahern.
County Semi-final
The U16s play the County semi-final on Saturday next Oct 3rd at 12 noon in Mick Neville Park against Granagh/Ballingarry, who are favourites, having beaten us in the group stages in Ballingarry. But after two moral boosting wins our boys should give a good account of themselves, they have been well prepared all year by their dedicated coach and manager Jason Dalton and his selector James O’ Connor
U14 Boys
The under 14s had a high scoring challenge game against neighbours Shannon Gaels (Glin/Gerald Griffins) in Glin last Sunday evening. It was a very open game with lots of goals from both sides. We were short a few players on the night, but it was still good preparation for our upcoming county semi-final. Team: Tomás Ahern, Tadhg Ahern, Louis O’Sullivan, Sean Twomey, Jamie Collins, Ciarán Hunt, Calum Buckley, James Hunt, Jack Sexton, Rory Cleary, Timmy O’Keeffe and Jim Ahern.
