Well the Listowel races are over for yet another year, but I’m sure the 2020 festival will live long in the memory of enthusiastic race goers, who had to be happy and watch them on TV? Hopefully this time next year we will have them back in full swing again.

Well October is with us this week and I’ve noticed the flowers have now seen the best of their days and people are putting away their containers and garden furniture etc. Looking out at my own I’ve  realised we hardly sat out on it this year with not a great summer however we will not despair and always try to think  positive, negativity  isn’t good!!

Sincere  sympathy is extended to Willie Nolan and family, Upper Athea on the death of his sister in law Anne of Kilmorna, unexpectedly at Kerry General Hospital. Sympathy to her husband Robert and family. May she rest in peace.

We always have a lovely choir at mass but last Saturday night they were fantastic and solo male and female singers making it another great difference well done to each and every one of them.

Well this past week was a very successful  one on the playing field for both boys and girls teams. The U 16s  played Ballylanders in their game beating them 4.15- to 1.8. They meet Granagh/Ballingarry in the final.

Congrats to the Athea Ladies who played Galtee Gaels in the Jnr A semi final in Croagh on Saturday winning 3.23 to 1.11 an outstanding victory. We wish them well for the final.

Also our U14s won against Shannon Gaels at the weekend.  Well done to all the teams, ye  are keeping Athea on the map.

I suppose the main message this week is to do what we are told and wear our masks etc, with the high rise in cases everyone has to do their bit. We are lucky to be living in the country  loads of fresh air and no throngs of people. Keep safe is the message.

Well trump has hit the headlines again owing vast amounts of tax. Anyone who owes 10,000 dollars cannot get their passport renewed one wonders if this will apply to him??? Also he has said it cost him 70,000 dollars to have his hair done over the years, I wonder how much his fake-tan cost ??? And some people love him!!! They must be suffering from TRUMP-ITIS!!!!
