TREES: Talk on line was given by Tom Dillon at Seanchai on heritage Trees of Kerry on 20th of August. He mentioned trees planted by Parnell at Kilmorna, the great man last visited there in 1891, shortly before his death. By the way Kilmorna had some great avenues of trees, before it was divided. Tom also mentioned the Knight of Kerry and the Herbert Family mentioning the great number and variety of trees they planted. Muckross yew tree is said to be the oldest tree in Ireland. Of course Queen Victoria also planted trees in Killarney. Today we can see some old trees still remaining where, substantial farmers once lived and also in Town Parks.
