We extend our sympathy to Maura Collins and family, Ardagh on the death of her brother Fr. Richard (Dick) Crowe, Dooradoyle, Limerick and formerly of Towerhill, Cappamore on Sunday, August 9, peacefully at St. Paul’s Nursing Home, Limerick. He was predeceased by his parents and brother John.

His funeral arrived at St. Paul’s Parish Church, Dooradoyle on  Tuesday, August 11, at 4pm. His Requiem Mass was celebrated on  Wednesday at 11.30am. The burial followed afterwards to Ballinure Cemetery, Murroe. Sympathy also to his sister Kathleen Halpin, Knocklong  brothers-in-law William and Seán, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins, relatives and many friends. Bishop Brendan Leahy, priests and all the religious of the Limerick Diocese. The Sisters of Bon Secours de Troyes, Dooradoyle, and personal assistant Alice. May He Rest in Peace.

We extend our sympathy also to the Enright family, Skehanagh, and the Ambrose family Liskileen, on the death of Peggy Enright, who died recently in England. May she rest in Peace.

Saint Kieran’s lost to Caherline by 1-17 to 0-9 in Round 3 of Group 1 of the County Junior Hurling Championship at Clarina on Sunday, August 9. Saint Kieran’s  will play Garryspillane, and Castletown/Ballygran in their final two matches. In Division 2B of the county U-16 football championship Saint Kieran’s lost to Belville Gaels by 1-13 to 4-3.

Congratulations to Breda Reidy Broadford who won €102 in the West Limerick 102fm 50/50 draw, held on Friday August 14.Tickets cost €2 and they are available from volunteers, in local shops, or from the radio station. All support is very much appreciated. The annual general meeting will be held in September. New volunteers to get involved in all aspects of the station are needed at present. The roles available include research and studio work, fundraising and lots more. Contact the station at 069-66200 if interested.

National Heritage Week will be held from Saturday, August 15 to Sunday August 23, this year. It will be a restricted programme of events this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Shirley O’Regan from West Limerick 102fm has been assembling heritage items of interest into short slots in recent weeks to mark the event.  Listen out for these programmes this week from 11am to 11.30am, as they  include a few local voices.

The Desmond Castle, Newcastle West and Adare Castle are open to the public free of charge for 2020 as part of the Government’s July Stimulus Plan. A lot of other sites around the country are also open if people get a chance to travel around on holiday.

The next Limerick GAA club draw will be held on Saturday, August 29 on Limerick Live 95fm during their sports programme from 10 to 11am. Contact the Saint Kieran’s club if you wish to join.

The Old Mill ladies football club are holding an Ocean Dash on Saturday, August 29, at 3pm on the Ladies Beach in Ballybunion. This will be a part of their Family Day Event. They have plans to hold a Coffee Morning in September if Covid 19 restrictions allow.

The annual general meeting of Ardagh Voluntary Housing will be held on Tuesday, September 1st.  at Ardagh Parish Hall.
