Athea GAA
We are delighted to be resuming our weekly slot in the Athea & District Newsletter, welcome back to all our readers and to the editors, Donal and Lillian.
Our club took advantage of the facilities being shut during the Covid 19 period by carrying out some maintenance work on the pitch and restoring our stand to its former glory. Our pitch is in tip top condition at the moment and is being admired by all who visit.
Our Junior Men’s & Ladies team have been enjoying challenge matches over the last few weeks in preparation for the championship. Athea Junior Ladies Team are scheduled to play Groody Gaels in the 1st Round of the Championship in Monaleen at 1pm on Sunday. Great to see some former players returning to the field and some new players showing great potential.
Our new Men’s Minor Jerseys sponsored by Ciarán Barrett of Athea Painting & Decorating arrived by post last week. The jerseys are proving extremely popular on social media with many expressing an interest in purchasing one. We are currently looking into the possibility of putting in a special order for those interested. Keep an eye on our notes for instructions.
Our Junior A Men’s Team also received reusable water bottle last week kindly sponsored by Maria Vaughan Riedy at Urban Angels Hair Salon, Glin. Many thanks to Maria for supporting our club.
