GAA Return
by John Hunt
Athea GAA club are working hard at the moment to get ready for a return to training for as many teams as possible from the 29th of June. The club is following all medical and croke park guidelines in preparation for this much longed for day.
A covid-19 education programme has been unveiled for clubs returning to activities, covering the roles and responsibilities of players, team personal and parents/guardians.
Stage one includes a club briefing webinar, eLearning module and educational resources.
Adult players and parents/guardians of underage players will be required to complete an online Health Questionnaire ONCE prior to their return to GAA activities. This online system will be provided centrally by the GAA and is the only system that should be used. They will also be required to declare before each training secession/game, that their health status has not changed.
Club membership
Some players had registered as members of Athea GAA club before activities were suspended due to the covid-19 crisis, all those interested in returning to activities should do so as soon as possible, by logging on to the CLUB FORCE website and look for Athea GAA club.
Pitch
The pitch is looking fantastic at the moment, with a lot of work taking place in recent weeks. The pitch was sanded as a requirement for ongoing maintenance, fertilized, the goal mouths were re sodded, footpaths and walls powerwashed, dougouts painted, carpark walls painted, and of course Diarmuid Collins and his team at stelcon have erected a faboulous new stand.
