OPEN AIR MASSES:  With no clear directives coming from the Church, it is simply trial and error at the moment on how best to keep contact with parishioners.   On Wednesday last we had Mass through bell speakers in Moyvane Church.  It is hoped to relay the Masses Monday to Saturday in these speakers, starting each evening with the Rosary at 7.15pm.  You are free, if you so wish, to come in your cars and prayerfully listen and respond to the Rosary and the Mass.  If you think this connection with Rosary and Mass is helpful to you at this time, please feel free to drive into the large car park in Moyvane Church.

RESTRICTIONS on people, on Allotments, Graveyards, beaches and other outdoor open spaces, did any of these restrictions reduce incidents of C 19. Doctors know the names of most of the people that are vulnerable to the virus, the obvious strategy would be to double protect them, while waiting for the vaccine. Road works which were causing considerable disruption, could easily be finished before lockdown is ended. Hairdressers another profession seeking to open, No wonder that people want them open, when they see daily on TV, people flouting laws, enforced us. People entering the country, are free effectively to do what they like, refuse entry, unless they have a substantial monitory bond. The head of the Centre for the Study of Immunology went to the Dublin Airport website and counted 22 flights coming into Ireland and 24 leaving Ireland recently.

UL have launched survey of mental health during lockdown, the same survey is taking place in England.

LEAVING CERT, with on line courses, there is no need for high points to progress at third lever. Reform now, where is our Minister, why wait.  Universities to attract good students have set up courses with small quotas, to require high points for entry.

GOOD Weather continues, Rhododendrons and White Thorn are flowering, silage is also being harvested, and large amount of turf is being cut. We had thunder and heavy showers of soft rain on Saturday last.

ABBEYFEALE COMMUNITY ALERT:  Wash your hands with soap and hot water for at least 20 seconds every time you leave the house, re-enter the house, do the shopping, unpack the shopping and any time you think you should.   There is a really dirty cruel horrible scam on the go these days where the crooks send out a text stating that they are the HSE:  “Someone who came in contact with you tested positive or has shown symptoms for COVID -19 and recommends you self – isolate/get tested.  More at COVID – 19 anon.com/alert.  IGNORE Do not click on the link, they can steal your credit card and personal details in seconds.  This is not how you will be contacted if you have been in contact with someone. Another one is where they ring you up( mar ya) from the HSE to send you a supply of face masks, sanitizers etc to keep you safe(!) and then they look for your bank card details.  DROP THE PHONE.   Avoid ‘opportunities’ to work from home with no interview, no previous experience and a heart stopping remuneration package.  They’ll be looking for a fee in order to begin work/training.  Remember that all the shops have designated times in the early morning for shopping for the elderly or if you are cocooning and  need shopping or messages, contact the local committee who have been set up by Abbeyfeale Community Council on 068 31169/068 32080/ 087 7571144 any day between 9-5pm.  The Gardai are also available to help vulnerable people and will call to people, collect shopping or medicines so if you want help ring them.  Do also  ring Abbeyfeale Gardai on 068 30010 (Three hundred ten) if you have concerns over callers/ travelling salesmen

PRAYER FOR A PANDEMIC

May we, who are merely inconvenienced,

remember those whose lives are at stake.

May we, who have no risk factors,

remember those most vulnerable.

May we, who have the luxury of working from home,

remember those who must choose between preserving their own health,

or work for the health of others.

May we, who have the flexibility to care for our children when their schools close,

remember those who do not have that option.

May we, who have to cancel our trips,

remember those that have no safe place to go.

May we, who are losing our margin money in the tumult of the economic market,

remember those with no margin at all.

May we, who settle in for a quarantine at home,

remember those who have no home.

As fear grips our country, let us choose love.

During this time when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other,

let us yet find ways to be the loving embrace of God

to our neighbours.   AMEN.
