Well , here’s hoping everyone is doing well at the moment. Those cocooned, those with young children, indeed everyone, especially those who may not be as lucky as us living in the country and may be confined to apartments or high rise buildings in various parts of the world— we wish you well and are thinking about you. We are thankful to be alive!!

Our sincere sympathy goes to Sharon , Michael, and extended Walsh and Reidy families on the death of Pa Walsh last week, an avid Athea Utd soccer member for many years which was wonderful to see by the huge crowd that came out to line the roads on both days to show their respect and sympathy from Abbeyfeale all the way into Athea and out to ‘The Vales’ , home of Athea Utd.  Everyone clapped en route – what a memory for his family and relations. Cremation took place on Sunday. May he Rest In Peace.

The death has occurred in England of Christy O’Connell, brother of John, Gortnagross and husband of Margaret Nee Hurley, Athea. Sympathy is extended to his family in Birmingham and relatives  in Athea.

We are blessed with good weather over the Easter Holiday and everywhere is looking wonderful. Painting has been done, turf has been cut, farmers are busy so all isn’t that bleak!!!! And as Pope Francis has said ”we are all born to help each other.  No matter how difficult it is,  life is good when you are happy, but much better when others are happy because of you”
