Athea GAA

Last Thursday night was an amazing night at Páirc na nGael here in Athea. Up to nearly 200 people between, men, women, youths and even babies came along to the take part in the ‘Athea Light Up’ initiative in association with Athea GAA, Operation Transformation and Get Ireland Walking. The track was in great condition having been prepared over the past few days. All the lights were on which was a huge asset. Despite the misty conditions everyone really enjoyed the exercise, meeting different people as they went around and everyone did their own thing and went at their own pace. Hopefully we will have even more next week and if you want on Saturday mornings at 9am another group do a second walk/run. Most on the night got the 7 laps (5k) completed. Well done to all and to the GAA who must really be complimented for the hard work that was put in to get the track ready. It was really good to see the number of our young people come along on the night instead of being on phones, xBoxes etc. here’s to Athea fitness!
