It was a busy weekend in Knockdown; on Friday night a great crowd attended the Athea comhaltas session of rousing music and song which was enjoyed by all. The Killeaney Annual Social followed on the Saturday night with everybody enjoying the music of Donie and Maura.
The Abha Bhán Parish Park committee is hosting a Christmas Fair on this Sunday 8th December. Santa will arrive at 4.30pm accompanied by our local wren boys. The Christmas lights will be turned on and there will be carol singing, face painting, storytelling and games. It will be a day not to be missed by all. Of course we have the Fair of Glin on Saturday so there is much to attend this weekend also. I hear too that the DVD of the Cailin Bán will be on sale shortly for anyone interested.
Ballyhahill NS Parents Association wishes to thank everyone who has bought the 2020 ‘Then and Now’ calender. They are getting great feedback from it. There are still some available at the school and local shops for €10. They will also be having the annual Christmas Raffle this year. Lines for €2 can be bought from any of the school children and also in all the local shops and businesses. There are some great prizes up for grabs including Afternoon Tea in Adare Manor.
The Annual General Meeting of Ballyhahill Development Association will take place on Tuesday 10th Dec at 8 p.m. in the hall. As you can see a lot of work is being done currently on the River Walk and the village is looking very clean and tidy. New members are invited and will be welcomed.
Another parishioner, Bill Hayes, has gone to his eternal reward. May he rest in peace. Sympathies to his wife Teresa and family.
