After all the excitement and hype leading up to the All Ireland Final last Sunday it seems we have to do it all again. I do not know how the teams bear the tension because it is hard enough to watch it on TV and remain calm. We hope for a more positive outcome on September 14th.
In the meantime the tension is building in Glin as the production of The Cailín Bán is awaited. (Excuse the lack of the “fada”. It seems to be missing from my computer these times.) Yes, on next Monday and Tuesday night the Abha Bhan and Glin Players will stage their interpretation of the story of Ellen Hanley who was murdered 200 years ago in 1819. It is a bone of contention that all tickets were sold out before people even knew they were on sale but such is the story. There will be a packed marquee on both nights. The night begins with the Adare Gospel choir which will make the night worthwhile before any play begins. Well done to the Glin Development who work hard behind the scenes to make this occasion one not to be forgotten. We expect Dominic West to arrive in Glin on Friday in time for a family wedding on Saturday.
It is great to hear of a new baby in Clounleharde. Congratulations to Shane and Mary Egan on the birth of their son Kyle who was in a great hurry to live in the area and came a few weeks early.
Fr Austin is still looking to those who have not returned the tax forms which he sent out to the parish before the summer. If you have forgotten to do so, you are kindly reminded to return them this week please as it would mean a great deal to the parish. It does not affect your relationship with the Revenue department in any way so do not fear that you will be caught out.
Loughill Parents Association is having the School Mass on Sunday 15th Sept and the Association will be holding a Church Gate collection on the Saturday and Sunday of that weekend for the school. All support will be appreciated.
