Great to hear of the ‘new additions’ to our parish over the past while. Timmy and Amy Enright of Templeathea were blessed with their new baby boy recently – they are naming him Harry. Congrats to the new parents also and the very proud grandparents Joan and Tim Enright of Templeathea.

Another first baby – a little girl was born to Raymond Brouder and Aisling Geoghegan of Templeathea, they are calling her Lucy Margaret. We congratulate the proud parents and Bridie and Jerry Brouder the excited grandparents.

The Athea Tidy Towns want to ask for everyone’s help this week by making sure that there isn’t a speck of rubbish within the speed limits as judging will be going on this week. For every piece of litter that is spotted thrown around there will be a deduction of €20 off the pot of money available – so tidiness is of the utmost importance. So every man, woman and child is asked to keep their eyes open for cigarette butts, sweet papers, empty cans etc and just to make sure the main street and all approach roads inside the limits are covered so that Athea will really benefit.

Yoga enthusiasts will be delighted to hear that Yoga classes with Linda recommence after the summer break in the Memorial Hall on next Monday, September 9th starting at 7pm-8.30pm. Newcomers are especially very welcome and yoga as we all know is excellent for both mind and body – pains and aches and stress!!

Athea Fishing Club thank everyone who contributed to their church gate collection at the weekend. All support was appreciated.

Following a recent hall meeting the ceiling of the kitchen has now been repaired by Bill Mulvihill – painting will be next for the kitchen – also in the very near future the ceiling in the hall is going to be lowered – insulation put in and this will make the front hall much warmer and cosier, rather than having an empty space up high. It’s great to see the hall being used for Bingo, parties, sports etc and we should all use it as much as we can, which enables the bills to be paid and work to improve this great facility.

Well September is with us – the evenings “closing in” somewhat, the Listowel Races starting this weekend and of course what about the Kerry/Dublin replay on September 14th should be exciting!.
