Junior B:

On this Saturday, May 4th – Athea Junior Bs meet Ballysteen in the West Junior ‘B’ football league – Group 1. The game will be played in Ballysteen at 6pm. All support will be welcome.

Páirc na nGael:

A good crowd attended  the Community Games on Sunday last at Páirc na nGael. The pitch was looking extremely well and was complimented by all in attendance. Well done to all who took part in the games.

Well done to Seamus Ahern of Parkana, who closed the ball stop-nets on Thursday night ahead of Storm Hannah  – helped by Derek Byrne, if they hadn’t been secured – they could have been left completely in tatters!.

500 Draw:

The annual ‘500 Club’ fundraising draw will have the tickets on sale in the very near future. As we all know the draw is the main yearly fund-raiser for the club and it’s with everyone’s support each year that improvements can be made on our wonderful facility which is magnificent for all ages from the pitch, to the gym, to the walking/running track. So your continued support is vital to keep debts and bills paid also.

Coiste na nÓg:

Wednesday April 10:

We played St. Kierans in Athea on Wednesday last April 24 in a great game of football. We again struggled for numbers, with just fifteen players available, we barely avoided having to give a walkover which would be very disappointing for the players who were there. St. Kierans were well on top in the first half, playing with the wind and our boys lacking the confidence to attack the ball. Following a good pep talk at half time from Colm Hassett the team were transformed in the second half and played some excellent attacking football which gave their supporters plenty to cheer about. There were excellent performances from James Broderick, Donnchadh Barrett, Callum Buckley, Tomás Ahern and Calum Gleeson,

Team. Tomás Ahern, Ciarán Hunt, Donnchadh Barrett, Calum Gleeson, Jamie Collins, Callum Buckley, James Hunt, Evan Curry, Tadhg Ahern, Rory Cleary, James Broderick, James Lee, Rory O’ Mahony, Michael Walsh and Callum O’ Mahony.
