Athea GAA

Sympathy:

Athea GAA Club wish to send their sympathy to the family and relatives, both in Chicago and here in Athea, of the late John Hunt who passed to his eternal reward over the weekend. John had “a huge passion” for Limerick hurling and made the trip at 97 years of age to see the Limerick hurlers hoisting the Liam McCarthy Cup. And after that “he died a happy man”. ‘May he rest in peace’.

Mackey Draw:

Don’t forget to purchase your ticket in time for the Mackey draw. As always there will be some great prizes on offer. By buying a ticket you are also helping Athea GAA Club.

Championship:

Unfortunately our Intermediates, who travelled to Askeaton on Saturday last, lost out to Rathkeale on the day. The opposition were the stronger team on the day. However, there is definitely room for improvement and that will come too.

Hurling:

Well hurling for our young boys and girls has started and no doubt this will be another milestone in our club. There seems to be great interest in it and hopefully it will go from strength to strength and who knows, we may yet have a player or two from the Athea Club in Croke park playing for Limerick – watch this space!
