Recently we had a huge crowd in Knockdown for the Vintage Run but on last Sunday it was the turn of the northern end of the parish to draw the crowds. And once again the sun shone making it a great day for the official opening of the Abha Bhán Parish Park. Cars lined the road down to Loughill as well as all along the N69 east and west of the village. A massive clap on the backs of all committee members who made the day such a success. People of all ages from babies up to very senior citizens admired all the amenities and availed of snacks  from the food stalls while enjoying a rest on the many seats or enjoying a brisk walk around the perimeter which is .3K. So 15 laps makes approximately a 5km walk. Though the park is built on the river bank it is very carefully fenced in while also affording a lovely view of the river and the bridge. It is lovely too to see a quiet area for those with sensory issues. It is truly a very restful spot. I attended with my grandchildren and was glad to see that there is a wheelchair parking space and that the grounds are wheelchair friendly. There are some information boards erected with local history as well as some very interesting statistics of all the materials used to complete the project to such a high standard. Well done to all.

There is currently a very interesting exhibition in Newcastlewest library by Sahaja from Carrigkerry. If you are in town give a call.

The Glin Defibrillator emergency number is now 068 59590 but the original number 087 6230032 still stands for the time being. The number is for emergencies only.
