St Patrick’s weekend celebrations brought a lot of happiness to many people with colourful parades around the country and music sessions in the local pubs but it will be remembered mostly for all the heartache it brought; between car crashes, drownings and disco crushes in our own country to shootings in Holland and New Zealand.  Sadly there are a lot of people mourning after the weekend. It would be easy get depressed by the troubles of the world and think it has gone mad and wicked, which it has to an extent, but we must remember that a lot of good things happen too but they do not make the headlines. It does not take away the heartache which people are suffering from right now but it is good to be reminded that it is not all darkness. Without darkness we would never appreciate the beauty of light. I was gladdened to read, recently, that there is less savagery in the world now that there used to be. We must live in hope and look for the positive things.

Lenten Station  Masses will be celebrated on this Wed 20th at 7 pm in Ballyhahill and on Thurs 21st at 7 pm in Loughill.
